From ocasia.org:
The first Asian Youth Games were held in Singapore in 2009, helping the hosts prepare to stage the first Youth Olympic Games run by the International Olympic Committee the following year.
The second edition of the Asian Youth Games, in Nanjing, China, in 2013, will serve a similar purpose ahead of the IOC’s second Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014. Officially, there will be a total of 123 events in 15 sports, 6 more than that of the previous edition held at Singapore
One of the most popular aspects of the first Asian Youth Games was the Culture and Education Programme in which young athletes could learn all about the other countries and regions thanks to exhibitions, games and performances.
