17-year-old Lui, Yuan Chow ran 3:58.62 minutes at the Victorian Junior T&F C’ships yesterday held in Australia.
He clinched gold for his represented club, Doncaster Athletics in the Under-18 category.
The previous mark was held by Lui himself, 3:58.92 minutes established in January at the Victorian Milers competition, improving it by 0.30 seconds.
Chow has set his sights on SEA Youth (Thailand) and Asian Junior Championship (Vietnam) that is to be held this year.
Record pending ratification by Singapore Athletics.
