The Flag Presentation Ceremony for Team Singapore to the 19th Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010 was held yesterday (21 September 2010).
The occasion was graced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, and Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) President Teo Chee Hean.
Some 102-strong Singapore contingent was present at Catholic High School, 68 of which are athletes, and 34 are officials.

Out of the 17 sports that will be contested in Delhi, 8 will be represented by Singapore.
And one of these will be athletics where our 4×100 relays boys will be competing.
The relay foursome of Gary Yeo, Md. Elfi Mustapa, Lee Cheng Wei, and Amirudin Jamal met the Commonwealth Games qualifying mark of 40.65 seconds last December at the SEA Games.

The quartet ran a sublime 39.82 seconds – romping to a new national record, and erasing the old mark of 40.10 seconds set in 2007 Korat SEA Games.
In the process they earned themselves a deserved SEA Games silver medal and a ticket to the Commonwealth Games.
Now the Games just two weeks away, the opening ceremony in New Delhi is set on 3rd October.
The chef-de-mission for the Games will be Annabel Pennefather; this will be her fourth outing in leading Team Singapore at a major game.
The Flag presentation ceremony yesterday started at 6pm with the arrival of DPM Teo. He was then treated to a brief entertainment by the school’s Chinese orchestra.
Following that the SNOC President gave an opening address, where his speech mainly describes of the optimism within the contingent.

Afterward, the national flag was then passed from Mr Teo to the Singapore Hockey Federation president, Ms Annabel Pennefather, before handed it over to 2008 Olympics silver medalist, paddler Feng Tian Wei.
She then recited the athlete’s pledge with 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medalist Zhang Jin.
The 19th Commonwealth Games will be India’s largest major games since the Asian Games of 1951 Delhi.
