Our top women sprinter Amanda Choo inches closer to her goal of running a sub-12 seconds in the 100m event, as she ran 12.01 seconds (0.0 m/s) in the finals of Day 4, and final day of Thailand Open yesterday.

The 23-year-old teacher finished fourth, just two hundredth of a seconds behind third place Malaysian Siti Fatima who breasted the tape at 11.99 seconds.

The first two place was won by two Thai girls, the winner clocked at 11.78 seconds, and the silver placing 11.88 seconds.

This is Amanda’s second effort in cracking her own mark this year.

The first was in April as she ran 12.03 seconds at Negeri Sembilan Open, erasing her three-year old 12.12 seconds mark ran at the 2007 SEA Games Korat.
