The below entails the final selection of the team and it’s members for the Asian Indoors Championship 2012, which is to consist of 2 best males and 2 best female plus an official/coach:


Initial interest reply

We had 5 male and 4 female who were keen and responded to SAA announcement of sending a team to the Asian Indoors Championship 2012. They were:

Men:

  • Gary Yeo – 100m
  • Stefan Tseng – Triple jump
  • Lee Cheng Wei – 100m
  • Ng Chin Hui – 200m
  • Yuan Joseph – 100m

Women:

  • Dipna Lim-Prasad – 100m
  • Wendy Enn – 400m
  • Shanti Veronica Pereira – 100m
  • Eugenia Tan – 100m

After Series 1 Results

Based on the competition we have the following results and rankings:

Men:

  • Stefan Tseng – Triple jump, 15.50m 993 points
  • Gary Yeo – 100m, 10.78s 952 points
  • Lee Cheng Wei – 100m, 10.78s 952 point
  • Ng Chin Hui – 200m, 22.27s 889 points
  • Yuan Joseph – 100m, 11.30s 800 points

Women:

  • Dipna Lim-Prasad – 100m, 12.25s 969 points

Dear Athletes and Coaches, we apologise for this sudden announcement of the Asian Indoor Championship (AIC) 2012. We only received the invitation from China on 6th Jan 2012. Nevertheless we realise that some of you may have been aware of the AIC and had planned to prepare for it as part of your Competition Plan for 2012. If that is the case, then we invite you to register your wish to be considered for the AIC.

We are willing to send the 2 Best male & 2 Best female athletes and 1 coach/official to the AIC.

We will use only the results of the SAA 2012 1st Series.

Events

According to the Asian AA Constitution, the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships comprise the following events:

Men: 60m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 60mH, High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, (We are not including the Heptathlon, 4 x 400mRelay)

Women: 60m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 60mH, High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, (We are not including the Pentathlon, 4 x 400m Relay)

We are willing to send the 2 Best male & 2 Best female athletes and one coach/official to the AIC.

Entry Rules

  • Must be Singaporean
  • Athletes younger than 16 years (on 31 December 2012, i.e. born in 1997 or later), CANNOT be entered in any event.
  • Youth athletes (any athlete aged 16 or 17 years on 31 December 2012, i.e. born in 1995 or 1996) CANNOT be entered in the Men’s Shot Put.

Conditions

We will use only the results of the SAA 2012 1st Series.

We shall rank the results (accordance to IAAF 2011 Ranking points) of those events for which athletes/coaches declared their interest to SAA by Friday 13th Jan 2012 before 5pm.

Performances achieved in mixed events between male and female participants, held completely in the Stadium, may be accepted under specific circumstances and conditions (see Rule 147).

Wind-assisted performances will not be accepted.

Hand-timed performances in 60m, 100m, 400m, 60m Hurdles, and 100m/110m Hurdles will not be accepted

Please note that SAA may nominate not more than two (2) competitors for each individual event.
