Q) What are your hopes, dream and target this SEA Games?

It is already a blessing to be given the opportunity to represent the country this SEA Games. A realistic target would be to compete in optimal condition and to achieve another personal best.

Q) How’s your preparation for the SEA Games?

Not the best because of other commitments. Minor hiccups here and there but I do okay.

Q) What are some of the biggest challenges in your sports career so far leading to SEA Games and your athletics career?

Having to balance school, work and training. Shag life, no life but pretty productive.

Q) How did you specialise in your particular event? Why this event, what’s the attraction?

Because I was referred to the Discus King, James Wong. I guess that says it all.

Q) Who is your coach, tell us more about him/her. Also a mention of your previous coaches.

My current coach is Coach Jana Lauren. Former national German thrower, extremely technical, detailed and patient. Traits necessary for a technical event like the Discus Throw. She enjoys baking and she loves dogs and horses.

My former coach is her husband, James Wong. You guys know who he is, the beast that doesn’t like to waste time. I’m very privileged to have them as my mentors.

Q) Do you take care of your nutrition and diet? Your opinion on supplements and food.

I used to take very good care of them but I don’t have the luxury of time to go into such detail now.

Proper supplementation and nutrition goes a long way, for both performance and physique.

Q) Aside from athletics, what else interest you? You could say the other part of your life beyond athletics.

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Q) How do you fit in your training/competing with your family and studies/work?

All about priorities.

Q) Share with the readers, some aspects of your training regime.

It was 8 training sessions a week.

Every session is a technical session, accompanied with varying strength and conditioning trainings after. (Eg, Weightlifting, sprints, plyo)

It is down to 6 mornings now.

Q) What are your long term athletics goals?

A throw at a time, brother.

Q) What advice do you have for young aspiring athletes?

Not for the weak, little ones.
