Q) What are your hopes, dream and target this SEA Games?

I will do my best and hope to put up a good performance at the games.

Q) How’s your preparation for the SEA Games?

It is getting on well after my recovery from a foot injury.

Q) What are some of the biggest challenges in your sports career so far leading to SEA Games and your athletics career?

For the past few years, it has been getting support for my event and being alone at competition most of the time. Also, managing the cat callings and negative responses from the general public about racewalkers.

Q) How did you specialise in your particular event? Why this event, what’s the attraction?

I was introduced to the walk by my PE teacher in secondary school and i continued after that. Racewalking is not just a sport to me; it has taught me many lessons about life.

Q) Who is your coach, tell us more about him/her. Also a mention of your previous coaches.

1. Ms Jayamani – Fitness coach. Ms Jaya has been coaching me since i started racewalking. She was a multiple Sea Games Gold Medallist and currently holding the national record for the 1500m and 3000m run.

2. Mr Tanaball – Technique coach, He used to represent Singapore at SEA Games.

3. Mr Hansen Bay – Mental Skills coach

4. Mr Akira – He was one of my secondary school’s coaches together with Ms Jaya.

5. Mr Lim Tiang Quee – He was my polytechnic’s coach, a decorated athlete and coach.

Along the way, i also receive guidance from other coaches (such as Mr Joe Goh, Mr MKS Rajan and Mr Subra) in the fraternity. Not forgetting the support from SSI.

Q) Do you take care of your nutrition and diet? Your opinion on supplements and food.

I don’t have a strict diet regime but I try to avoid deep fried food. Supplements are good to complement our daily diet as they help to provide nutrients where our daily food intake may not contain.

Q) Aside from athletics, what else interest you? You could say the other part of your life beyond athletics.

I enjoy sports in general and travelling.

Q) How do you fit in your training/competing with your family and studies/work?

Time management and constant communication with my family so that they get a better understanding of what I do.

Q) Share with the readers, some aspects of your training regime.

I train up to 10 times a week.

My first training session starts at 6am. By 9am, i will be in office. I will start my second training session after work.

Q) What are your long term athletics goals?

To break the national 50km Walk Record.

Q) What advice do you have for young aspiring athletes?

Be in this (sport) because you love it, not simply because you are good at it.
