    37 countries participated in this competition. A breakdown of 546 athletes of which 337 are men and 209 are women.

    Including team officials, a total of 723 individuals attended the competition.

    IAAF General Secretary Mr Pierre Weiss was the top IAAF official who opened the ceremony.
