The International Coaching Course (ICC) organized by the Strategic & International Directorate of Semmelweis University, in cooperation with the IOC (Olympic Solidarity) is an intensive three-month course, designed to train and educate coaches.
The course provides coaches with a systematic way to improve their knowledge and skills in the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of coaching.
The recent June graduation ceremony of the latest batch of ICC certified Diploma coaches, we had a representative from Singapore, Asmah Hanim.
The ceremony held in-conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the ICC Programme, saw the 26-year-old being the only graduand who scored all fives on her examinations.
The Singaporean who was awarded the International Olympic Committee scholarship after being nominated by Singapore Athletic Association, headed to Hungary earlier back in March with 45 other participants from 12 countries, for the start of her coaching diploma.
Asmah Hanim receives her diploma from Dr. József Tihanyi, the dean of the faculty, “Before I started the course, I had 3 objectives: to gain new knowledge, meet new friends and explore a new place. Safe to say, I have accomplished what I set out to do. Doing well for the course was a bonus! Overall, it was experience for me.”
The programme includes 120 theortical and 180 practical teaching hours. In a chosen field of sports, the students receive intensive education in Anatomy, Physiology, Sport Psychology, Sport Pedagogy, Sport Sociology, Sport Management, Sport Administration, Sport and Research and Sport Practice.
The course content has been carefully selected to meet the needs of coaches working generally with young, developing athletes as well as with advanced athletes of elite sport.
On her farewell speech, Asmah thank SAA, SNOC and IOC for “an experience of a lifetime”.
