Q) What are your hopes, dream and target this SEA Games?

Achieve a new personal best and get into the finals.

Q) How’s your preparation for the SEA Games?

Everything’s going well now after a recent hamstring strain that forced me to refrain from jumping and sprinting for a few weeks. I’m in pretty good shape now.

Q) What are some of the biggest challenges in your sports career so far leading to SEA Games and your athletics career?

In 2013 I had an ankle injury that would hurt every time I jumped. It was the year that I had my initial breakthrough and I was expecting to jump 7m that year. However I cut my season short and took a few months away from the track. I also found it hard to find guidance and I’m so fortunate to have found coach Kamarul when I resumed in 2014.

Q) How did you specialise in your particular event? Why this event, what’s the attraction?

I started out with the high jump because I didn’t wanna get dirty jumping into sand. I found out that I wasn’t that good at it so I changed.

Q) Who is your coach, tell us more about him/her. Also a mention of your previous coaches.

Coach Kamarul. Very nice coach who has a wealth of experience. Someone whom I can talk to and share my troubles with.

Q) Do you take care of your nutrition and diet? Your opinion on supplements and food.

I’m not particular about my diet, but I try to avoid certain stuff like coke. I take protein and multi vitamins. Sometimes creatine.

Q) Aside from athletics, what else interest you? You could say the other part of your life beyond athletics.

School and my studies.

Q) How do you fit in your training/competing with your family and studies/work?

I try to spend as much spare time as I can on my studies. Any other time I have on my hands is spent with my family and friends.

Q) Share with the readers, some aspects of your training regime.

2 x gym/plyo, 2x speed, 2x technique

Q) What are your long term athletics goals?

Break national record.

Q) What advice do you have for young aspiring athletes?

Never give up.
