- 7 May 2012, Monday – A 8-member Team Singapore squad has departed for Thailand, for the 2012 Asian Grand Prix Series to be held there this year.
The event will be held over three legs Bangkok (8 May), Kanchanaburi (11 May) and concluded at Chonburi (14 May).
The team comprises of Mr. Melvin Tan, and SAA Chief, Sports Development & Performance, Mr. James Wong who are the two officials.
While the six athletes are Muhammad Elfi Bin Mustapa, Muhammad Amirudin Bin Jamal, Lee Cheng Wei, Kang Li Loon Calvin, Lim Yao Peng and Yeo Foo Ee Gary.

- 6 May 2012, Sunday – Abdul Hakeem Abdul Halim has equalled his 110 metres hurdles (1.067m) men national record of 14.49 seconds.
The 25-year old achieved such a feat today earlier at a Malaysian meet, the Negeri Sembilan Open at Paroi Stadium.
The National University of Singapore undergrad first hurdled into the history books three years back in 2009, also at a Malaysian meet in Ipoh.
Hakeem this year has progressively lowered his timing.
His first competitive meet was in February where he clocked 14.98 seconds (0.3 m/s) at the SAA T&F Series 2 in February, and in the next Series 3, he lowered it once again to 14.79 seconds (0.0 m/s) in March.
The final year accountancy student is making an encouraging comeback, after a short hiatus with the timings to back it up.
Hakeem ran 14.49 seconds (ET) in the heats and 14.38 seconds (HT) in the finals. Note: This is a performance record, and not a national record as it is hand-timed result.
But he is facing a tough road ahead of him for he is to progress to the next level.
Using the previous SEA Games 110m hurdles results as a benchmark, the bronze medal timing was 14.14 seconds, while the silver and gold are 13.86 and 13.77 seconds respectively.
