Singapore – Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) announced earlier today that national sprinter and hurdler Marc Brian Louis will represent the country in the World Athletics U20 Championships, set to take place later this month in Nairobi, Kenya.
World Athletics ‘qualification system states that member federations with no male or female qualified athlete or relay team will be allowed to enter their best ranked male athlete or their best ranked female athlete in one athletic event, with the exception of the Combined Events, 10,000m and 3000m Steeplechase.
Marc Brian Louis will compete in the Men’s 110m Hurdles (0.991m) having accepted the universality entry with the closest time to the qualifying mark. Marc Brian Louis became Singapore’s first Asian Youth Athletics Champion in 400 Meter Hurdles in 2019 and the U18 110m Hurdles (0.914m) national record holder.
World Athletics U20 Championships will take place from 17 August 2021 to 22 August 2021 at the Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi, Kenya.
