Inset is file photo of Md. Amirudin at SEA Games 2013.
National sprinter Md. Amirudin last Friday competed at the Unimap Perlis competition held in Malaysia.
The 27-year-old managed to clock 10.55 seconds finishing second to earn his represented club, Wings Athletic Club, a silver medal.
Not only he managed a season-best from the event, but Amir also equaled his bronze medal 10.55 seconds performance at the SEA games 2013 edition.
The then Myanmar Games saw Amirudin contributing 2 medals out of the 8-medal haul by Singapore in athletics; a silver in the 4x100m and a bronze in 100m men.
With a legal wind-aided windspeed of 2.0m/s in the Perlis race, and also meeting the SEA Games 100m men qualifying mark, the full-time training Amirudin will now put his qualifying effort to rest and fully focus on improving his ground speed.
Amir is the fifth Singapore athlete who has met the qualifying mark for individual events at next year SEA Games. He joined Shanti Veronica Pereira (200m women), Zubin Percy Muncherji (400m men), Hannah Lee (Discus throw women) and Zhang Guirong (Shot put women).
The next edition of SEA Games will be held 5 – 16 June 2015 on home ground, Singapore.
That’s 194 days away as of this post.
