1. Joseph Yuan shaved off a chunk of his 100m personal best when he ran 10.80s in the semi-final of the men’s event. Before that, he ran 10.85s in the heats, and capped off his excellent Malaysian meet outing by clocking 10.89s in the 100m men finals, finishing in 6th position.

2. Women 100m national record holder, Amanda Choo maiden return to racing after her long-term injury, started on a good note. She ran 12.12s in the heats, which qualified her for the next round where she ran 12.21s in the semi-final. She then sprinted to 4th position in the final with a time of 12.23s.

3. Asmah Hanim, the seasoned sprinter from Wings Athletic Club ran the women 100m event. Her timing in the heats was 12.86s, and made it to the next round, posting 12.87s timing in the semi-final. However it wasn’t fast enough for a spot in the finals.

4. Valerie Seema Pereira ran three round robbing 200m races in Negeri Sembilan. In the heats she returned a time of 27.15s, the semi-final Valerie posted a time of 26.46s, and in the final the NTU undergrad finished in 6th position with a time of 26.71s.

5. Another Wings Athletic Club athlete, Soh Rui Yong ran a scintillating final of the men’s 5000m. The 21-year-old ran a competitive race with another Malaysian runner, who pipped him in the final stretch. 15:49.01 minute to the Malaysian, and 15:50.28 minute to Soh Rui Yong. He has a personal best of 15:36.02 minute set last year at the Singapore Open.

6. Hannah Lee, the Republic up and coming women thrower participated in two events under Wings Athletic Club colors. She hurled 40.14m in the discus throw, while fielded a 12.04m result in the shot put event.

7. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Halim equalled his 110m hurdles men national record of 14.49s during the heats, and only to be disappointed by a photo finish machine malfunction in the final which marred his chances to break his own record. The 25-year-old was clocked at 14.38s hand-timed.
