Venue: SSI Seminar Room and HOA

Course Fee: $600 ($400, only for full-time students below 21 years old with valid student pass. See course requirement below)

Course Duration: 12 days. Compulsory to attend the full 12-day course as per the IAAF requirements.

Application Closing Date: 6pm on Friday, 13 September 2019 (All relevant certificates, where applicable, must be submitted by 6pm on Friday, 13 September 2019)

Payment Closing Date: 6pm on Friday, 13 September 2019

Announcement of Final list of Participants: 6pm on Monday, 23 September 2019

This course is not eligible for Skill-Future Funding.

This course is available only to Singapore citizen and Singapore PR only.

Selection guidelines

All applicants must meet the basic entry requirements to be considered for the course. If you do not meet the basic entry requirements, you may not be shortlisted for the course.

Basic Entry Requirements:

    • a) Be a minimum of 18 years of age.

b) Have a minimum of a completed Primary school education.

c) Have an interest in athletics.

d) Must be physically fit and able to learn to demonstrate all athletic events.

e) Must be willing to actively involve himself or herself as a qualified coach and to assist the IAAF Member Federation in the development of athletics.

f) Be able to speak and read the course language sufficiently well to sit a written and practical examination.

g) Compulsory to attend all classes punctually and throughout the duration of the course (Compulsory to attend the full 12-day course as per the IAAF requirements).

  • Basic Sports Science (BSS) or been granted BSS waiver. (Exempted if they have relevant qualification e.g.: Sports Science diploma/degree). Those without BSS certificate are allowed to register for this course.
  • Valid standard first aid with AED certificate. (Those without first-aid certificate are allowed to register for this course)
  • Values and Principles in Sports (Those without Values and Principles in Sports certificate are allowed to register for this course)

IAAF New CECS Level 1 Coaching Course certificate will only be awarded once the participant has:

  • Proof of 15 hours of coaching practice (Additional 10 hours of coaching practice under SA appointed coaches for students who paid subsidized course fees)
  • BSS certificate
  • Standard First Aid with AED certificate
  • Values and Principles in Sports certificate
  • SA Coaches’ Code of Ethics & Conduct signed and submitted

1. Selection Process

Where there are more than 24 applicants who meet the above basic entry requirements, the selection panels will shortlist applicants based on the following selection guidelines:

* Relevant documents (certificates, referral letters etc.) must be accompanied together with your application form and cheque.

Priority

  • Local Track & Field Athletics Coaches who have interest in serving/have served the Federation in the development of athletics
  • Current Track &Field Athletics coaches without current (2016) IAAF certification (Support letters from current school/organisation)
  • Kids Athletic and Certified Athletics Coaches from Non-IAAF systems
  • School PE/Track & Field Athletics CCA teachers
  • Former National Athletes

2. Payment received

All applications are given consideration according to the date the completed application & payment are received by the SA. Applications without payment will not be considered complete until payment is received. Please note: Your cheque is not banked in until after selection.


3. Payment Information

We accept payment by cheque only, do not bank transfer.

Cheque should be made payable to "Singapore Athletic Association". Please indicate participant name, mailing address, handphone & email in a separate paper if you are mailing it to us, so we know who the cheque belongs to, and to return the cheque if you are not selected.

Every Monday to Friday (except public holiday) – 10am to 6pm.
Look for SA High Performance department staff.


Refund Policy

The refund of Course Fees will be based on the Refund Policy Table below:

% of the aggregate amount of the fees paid If applicant’s written notice of withdrawal is received
80% More than 7 days before the Course Commencement Date
50% Less than 7 Days before the Course Commencement Date
0% After Course Commencement Date

* Refunds will be made within 30 working-days upon receipt of written notice
