To further accomplish Singapore Athletic Association’s vision to develop more coaches, SAA has signed on Republic Polytechnic to expand the talent pool for coaching athletics in Singapore.
Diploma in Sports Coaching students from RP are now able to receive SAA certification upon completing coaching courses conducted by SAA. The new Kids Athletics Satellite Centre in RP is one of the outlets to provide students the opportunity to pick up coaching skills from SAA coaches.
The centre in RP is also a first for SAA as it provides hands on experience and mentorship programme. Students will go through a five-day course and clock 30 hours of mentorship with SAA coaches. Following which, the students will be certified as a Kids’ Athletics Instructor and teach kids aged between 7 – 12 years old basic athletic and agility skills.
SAA also conducts Athletics Technical Official Course and the IAAF Level 1 Coaching course for RP students who want to pursue athletics coaching further.
In order to ensure a continued supply of young athletes, it is important for athletes to have an inspiring, encouraging and experience coach who will help the athlete on his sporting journey.
