Originally SAA had decided against sending any athlete because the Qualifying marks were beyond our athletes i.e 6th placing of last Asian Championships (Qualifying marks were publish in SAA website) except Pole vault Women where only top 5 position was achieve and do not have 6th placing mark.

On the advice of Asian Athletics Association, SAA has decided to send Seven (7) Athletes and Two (2) Officials (Singapore quota given) to this championship.

The male and female athletes selected (from among those within 6% of SEA Games Qualifying marks), will be the ones closest to the respective Asian qualifying marks.

The table below shows the various athletes and the % their best effort is of the Asian Qualifying Mark. Only Top 7 athletes were selected based on the quota given.
