Age: 30 years old
Weight: 58.8kg
Height: 172cm
Coach: G. Elangovan
PB: 3000m steeplechase (9:59.68)
How’s your preparation leading up to Singapore Open?
It’s looking good. Hitting PBs in trials.
What is your expectation in terms of results at Singapore Open?
Looking to hit below 9:50 min for steeplechase for Singapore Open.
Who do you look up to (eg idol, mentor) for inspiration?
Actually look up to Kenneth Khoo (400m national athlete). Given that we are in the same profession and he still managed to maintain his form, moreover after a serious injury. Also, as we know one loses speed as we aged but Kenneth was the reason why I still felt that I can still come back to 1500m and 800m.
How did you get started in athletics?
All started with me being rejected from NPCC in Secondary 1. During PE, came in first for a run and was asked to join T&F by the teacher, Mdm Foong Sau Wan, who was the T&F teacher in-charge then. I got serious only after ‘O’ level when I joined Ms. Tan Yew Ling as I got inspired by her.
