Our up and coming distance runner Soh Rui Yong who is currently overseas on a student exchange at the University of Oregon has been participating in local races there and is doing well.
He recently ran the Scandia 10km & 5km run/walk, where the 22-year-old came in third with a timing of 32:44 minutes, just outside his personal best of 32:26 minute.
The NUS undergrad also helped his team Eugene Generics to win the team event at the Scandia 10km championship event.
Rui Yong also ran a 2 mile event held during our National Day, the Oregon Track Club Allcomers. He won the competition with a timing of 9:53 minutes.
He is currently under the tutelage of Tom Heinonen, UO and USA hall of fame coach.
