23-years-old Soh Rui Yong whose recent men marathon attempt; his debut to be in-fact, completed the California International Marathon in a timing of 2 hours 26 minutes and 1 second.
The effort alone placed him as the second in the ranking of all-time best timing for the event ran by a Singaporean. It’s behind only the current national record held by Mr. Rameshon, 2:24:22 (1995).
The scholar who is currently enrolled at the University of Oregon is back in Singapore for the holidays and is visiting family & friends.
SAA has teamed up with Soh Rui Yong to present you this sharing session. Get to know how this once “mediocre” athlete as Rui Yong puts it, to become the Republic top distance runner.
Rui Yong is also the current men national record holder for the 10,000m event (31:15.95, Oregon, USA, Portland Track Festival, 15-Jun-2014).
