Timothee Yap Jin Wei won his 400m hurdles ‘A’ boys finals at the 52nd National Inter School Track & Field Championships 2011 in record breaking time of 54.80 seconds earlier this morning.
The schoolboy clipped his own Championship mark of 55.15 seconds set in the heats last week by some thirty-five hundredth of a second.
The sublime timing by the Hwa Chong Institution athlete is the fastest time in recent memory set by a Singaporean who has run below 55 seconds for the 400m hurdles event.
With his scintillating form shown in the National School, this promising junior is currently Singapore’s best over the distance. In fact the 17-year-old is not far in meeting the SEA Games 2011 qualifying mark which stands at 54.15 seconds.
