Just two weeks ago Wong Kai Yuen broke his own national junior record mark (6kg) in the shot put event, and now he has added another record breaking feat under his belt at the 52nd National Inter School Track & Field Championships 2011 held earlier today.
The 17-year-old erased Lim Zhuo Yan’s 2009 ‘B’ boys shot put record of 17.11 meters, with a new distance of 17.68 meters.
With the new registered mark, the Hwa Chong Institution athlete also in the process re-wrote his own under-17 shot put record of 17.16 meters (5kg); pending ratification by SAA, set earlier this year at SAA Track & Field Series #1.
The junior shot putter now has two golds coming off the Championships. The day before he captured the ‘A’ boys division title in the discus event.
