Shot putter Wong Kai Yuen signaled his return to form by erasing the National Junior men shot put record at the 38th Singapore Junior Athletics Championships held earlier at Bishan Stadium.
Last year the 18-year-old was breaking records be it at the age-group level, junior mark to Championship distances, but however towards the end of the year he however lost his form due to a plaguing foot injury he picked up.
The Hwa Chong Institution has since slowly been on the comeback trail, and proved himself to be at the top of his game by breaking his own shot put 6-kilograms record set last year in May.
He added a further 24-centimeters to his personal best, improving the national junior mark from 16.07 metres to 16.31 metres.
With his superb effort today, Wong Kai Yuen has qualified for the upcoming Asian Juniors to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka by surpassing the qualifying mark of 15.76 metres.
Record is pending ratification by SAA.
