Q) What are some of the biggest challenges in your sports career so far leading to SEA Games and your athletics career?

Biggest challenges in my athletic career has been dealing with injuries and balancing studies.

Q) How did you specialise in your particular event? Why this event, what’s the attraction?

I switched to the 400m on the advice of my coach who thought I had potential after I ran a good timing in an open meet. I love the 400m as it is exciting because it has both speed and endurance which thrills me.

Q) Who is your coach, tell us more about him/her. Also a mention of your previous coaches.

My curent coach is Kamarulzaman bin Tahir. He’s an extremely dedicated and committed coach putting his athlete’s interest above everything else. Sport is his passion. Without him I would not be where I am today.

My previous coach was Shathik M. I am indebted to him for building my foundation in athletics.

My diet and nutrition is completely taken care of by my mom. I do believe a proper diet is an essential part of an athlete’s program. Supplements do help to a certain extent but it cannot replace a well-balanced diet.
