The Republic has sent two representative for the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, Gary Yeo and Dipna Lim-Prasad. They will be accompanied by coach cum official Viatcheslav Vassiliev.
The indoor games in its 14th edition is to be held at Istanbul, Turkey. The team departed yesterday night and will arrive today at 6am.
26-year-old Gary will be running the 60 metres event. He is scheduled to run the qualifying round this Friday on the 9th of March at 5:35PM Istanbul time. The SMU undergrad has a personal best of 6.71 seconds in the event.
While our national record holder in the women 100m hurdles, Dipna Lim-Prasad will have another crack in the 60 metres hurdles event. Her debut outing at the Asian Indoor three weeks back running the event, she finished in a time of 9.25 seconds. Dipna will run her preliminaries on Friday too, at 5PM Istanbul time.
SAA President Mr. Tang Weng Fei was unable to make it and send his best regards to the team and wish them all the best at the Championship. He urges them to do Singapore proud.
Note: Singapore is 6-hours ahead of Turkey
