The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods for 2023 that will come into effect on 01 January 2023, which are banned from use within sport.

A copy of the 2023 Prohibited List and the Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes are attached for your reference.

The mobile-friendly digital edition will also be updated by WADA and available from 1 January 2023.

All athletes to check the status of their medication prescribed by doctors or bought over-the-counter at pharmacies in Singapore via ADS online database “CheckDrugs”, which is accessible from the ADS website at https://go.gov.sg/antidoping-singapore. Athletes based in or travelling to Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Switzerland for training or competitions can check the Global Drug Reference Online database www.globaldro.com for medication purchased in these countries.

All carded athletes who need to be prescribed medication or methods of treatment that are prohibited should apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) to ADS before using it.

Based on the principle of strict liability, athletes are fully responsible for what they ingest. Supplements that are available for purchase may contain ingredients with harmful side effects, or prohibited substances (and at times not indicated in the ingredients list) which is listed on the WADA Prohibited List. Hence, due caution should be exercised when taking supplements, especially herbal ones.
