The SAA Selection & Training Sub-Committee and the Race Walking Sub-Committee have decided to carry out a 2nd Trial to select SINGAPORE’s Representative at the Asian 20km Race Walking Championships in NOMI, Japan.
The reason is that the results of the trial held on 8th Jan 2012 was “not satisfactory”.
We are, once again, inviting walkers (Singapore Citizen) to join-in the 2nd Trial to be held on 5th February 2012 at the Marina Promontory, the reporting Time is 0700 hours.
The Selection Criteria & co-payment scheme (for non-qualifier) – items (a) to (e) remain unchanged (See below).
Note:- The Committee may not be selecting an athlete, if he/she is off the qualifying mark by more than 12%.
Selection Trial Info
Date: Sunday, 5th February 2012
Time: 7.00am (Reporting time)
Venue: Marina Bay Promontory (Near Raffles Place MRT, Exit I)
Selection criteria
a) For Singapore Citizen (Male/Female) only.
b) Qualifying standard as follow:
Male walker qualifying time: 1hr:40:00-
Female walker qualifying timing: 2hrs:00:00
(The timing was based on the 6th placed walker timing at the recent SEA Games in Indonesia).
c) Only 1 Male & 1 Female walker shall be in the final Team to NOMI.
if recorded a timing 3% off the qualifying timing athletes will have to borne 30% of the Air-Fare,6% off the qualifying timing athletes will have to borne 60% of the Air-Fare,10% off the qualifying timing 80% of the Air-Fare,and if more than 10% off the qualifying timing 100% of the Air-Fare.
e) Any athletes who were disqualified (Breaching the walking rules) during the trial shall not be selected.
