Selection trial was held by SAA on Sunday 8th January 2012 at 7.30am around the Marina Bay Promontory/Olympic Walk with a loop of 2km circuit.

Selection trial for Singapore representative to the Asian 20km Race Walking Championships 2012, to be held in Nomi (Ishikawa prefecture) Japan on March 11th 2012.

Closing date to sign-up for the trial selection is 4th January 2012, Wednesday.

Selection Trial Info

Date: Sunday, 8th January 2012
Time: Start at 7.30am
Venue: Marina Bay Promontory

Selection criteria:

a) For Singapore Citizen (Male/Female) only.

b) Qualifying standard as follow:

Male walker qualifying time: 1hr:40:00
Female walker qualifying timing: 2hrs:00:00

(The timing was based on the 6th placed walker timing at the recent SEA Games in Indonesia).

c) Only 1 Male & 1 Female walker shall be in the final Team to NOMI.

d) If in the event NONE of the walkers qualified, the top finisher of Male and Female walker,

if recorded a timing 3% off the qualifying timing athletes will have to borne 30% of the Air-Fare,
6% off the qualifying timing athletes will have to borne 60% of the Air-Fare,
10% off the qualifying timing 80% of the Air-Fare,
and if more than 10% off the qualifying timing 100% of the Air-Fare.

e) Any athletes who were disqualified (Breaching the walking rules) during the trial shall not be selected.
