2. Qualifying
SNOC’s selection criteria: 3rd placing of 2013 SEA Games
Qualifying window: 1 Apr 2014 – 29 March 2015 (Sanctioned meets & results established under legal windspeed condition)
Individual events: A maximum of two athletes for each individual event
Team events: One team for each relay event. Six athletes (including 2 substitutes) may be entered for each relay
Athlete must be a Singapore Citizen at the time of nomination.
- Meeting the qualifying mark does not guarantee selection for SEA Games 2015. Final decision on selection will be made by SNOC, as the body that sets the qualification criteria and makes the final selection of athletes for the Games.
- SNOC’s Selection Committee will convene on 26 Jan to deliberate on nominated athletes. Final list of selected athletes will be decided in April 2015.
- In the event that there are more than two athletes who have met the qualifying mark, SAA may organise trials to determine the best 2 to represent the country. The current form of the athletes is of utmost importance and SAA reserves the right to select the final two athletes to represent Singapore at the Games. Factors such as past performances and future potential will also be considered.
- For events with no athlete meeting the qualifying mark, we have included in our nomination the best ranked individuals in their respective events, taking into account their future potential, for SNOC’s consideration. Final decision on selection is to be determined by SNOC.
- Relay Selection (4x100m and 4x400m)
For the selection of the final 6 runners, SAA may organise races for the athletes in the relay training squad to run together under the same race conditions. Factors such as attendance, attitude and commitment at relay training, ability to work well with others and previous performances (e.g. 100m and 400m) will also be considered. The Relay Coach will recommend to SAA the final 6 athletes for SAA’s approval and the decision to select for the final 4 to race will be decided by the relay coach.
Athletes selected in final team for SEA Games 2015, will be required to:
- i. Attend all Team Trainings, Briefings and Camps
ii. Compete at any identified competitions for fitness and performance monitoring
SAA reserves the right to drop any athlete if the athlete is deemed unfit to perform at a competitive level.
SEAG Nomination Update:
- Athletes or teams who have not met the 3rd placing mark within the qualifying window but fall within 15% off the mark have been considered for nomination. In events where there are no athletes who meet this criterion, we have included in our nomination those with notable performances in their respective events (e.g. close to the 15% mark or best ranked in their respective events)
We considered athletes’ performance in 2014 for the nomination.
