1. General Information
- Singapore Athletics (SA) intends to select and send athletes for the 19th World Athletics Indoor Championships 2022. This is subjected to Singapore’s Covid-19 measurements.
2. Selection criteria

3. Qualifying Period

- The qualifying period will be from, (regardless of the time zone):

- From 1-January-2021 to 1-March-2022 except for the Combined Events
-
(Sanctioned meets & results established under legal wind speed condition will only be accepted)
4. Individual events
- Two qualified athletes can initially be entered per event, provided each has achieved the Entry Standard (three in case of a Wild Card) in each event.
5. Team events
- There is no entry standard & each Member Federation will be able to enter one team of up to eight athletes in each event.
6. Eligibility for nomination
- Athlete must be a Singapore Citizen and should not be holding dual citizenship if they are above 21 years old, at the time of nomination.
- Meeting the qualifying mark does not guarantee. Final decision on selection will be made by SA, as the body that makes the final selection of athletes for the Championships.
- If the athlete age is as below, the requirements are:a) Under 20 Athletes – Athletes aged 18 or 19 years on 31-December-2022, (i.e., born in 2003 or 2004).
b) Under 18 Athletes – Athletes aged 16 or 17 years on 31-December-2022 (i.e., born in 2005 or 2006).
c) Athletes younger than 16 – No athlete younger than 16 years of age on 31-December-2022 (born in 2007 or later) may be entered.
7. Final list of selected athletes

8. Relay Selection (4x400m)
-
- For the selection of the final 6 runners, SA may organise races for the athletes in the relay training squad to run together under the same race conditions. The Relay Coach will recommend to SA the final 6 athletes for SA’s nomination and the decision to select for the final 4 to race will be decided by the relay coach.
Athletes selected in final team, will be required to (Unless with valid & approved reasons for absence):

- i. Attend all Team Trainings, Briefings and Camps

ii. Compete at any identified competitions for fitness and performance monitoring
SA reserves the right to drop any athlete if the athlete is deemed unfit/injured to perform at a competitive level.
9. Relay Coach Selection
- The National Relay Coach shall be relay coach.
10. Universality Places
-
- In the event that no athletes qualify, SA will follow the rules set by World Athletics for UNIVERSALITY PLACES (UNQUALIFIED ATHLETES).
- SA will nominate one unqualified male athlete OR one unqualified female athlete in one running event of the Championships (Except the 800m).
- In exceptional cases, and as agreed by the Technical Delegates, entry of unqualified athletes in the 800m, Long Jump, Triple Jump or Shot Put may be accepted. Applications for such entries must be submitted to World Athletics by no later than 1 March 2022.
Athletes’ performances under the qualification period will be ranked using percentile under WA’s scoring table.
For example:
100m Women 11.15s Qualification time
[(Qualification time - Season best) / Qualification time] x 100%
[(1167 - 1077) / 1167] * 100%
= 7.71% off qualification time.
High Jump Men 2.34m Qualification height
[(Qualification distance/height - Distance/height measured) / Qualification distance/height] x 100%
[(1215 - 1045) / 1215] * 100%
= 13.99% off qualification distance/height.

- ), and the results will be recommended to SA’s MC for approval.
RULE 15 ATHLETE SELECTION STANDING COMMITTEE
-
- a) Any dispute regarding athlete selection matters may be submitted to the Athlete Selection Appeals Standing Committee which shall comprise members of the Training and Selection Committee and other individuals, appointed by the Management Committee, whom it considers are competent on athlete selection matters including representatives from the Singapore Sports Council, provided that members of the Athlete Selection Sub-Committee shall not be concurrent members of the Athlete Selection Appeals Standing Committee.
b) Any notice of dispute or appeal must be submitted, within seven (7) calendar days of the date of announcement of the selection, to the Honorary Secretary, and the Athlete Selection Appeals Standing Committee shall convene its first hearing within seven (7) calendar days from receipt of such notice.
